When your silent film relative shows up in your mail with a film award plaque:

My silent film star Great Uncle Pat O’Malley shows up on eBay randomly. $30 in some newspaper or estate sale,  and he shows up in different forms of old media including cigarette and candy trading cards around the world. He was one of the first true male leads in the first era of film. 

This latest photo (swipe right) came in the mail the same day as my award plaque for my win as “Best New Media” for my World War 2 short film “A Mighty Endeavor” at the Idyllwild 2021 festival. 

His enigmatic smile and kind eyes bore more encouragement in the moment than seemed normal and was more timely than some might know.
