Venezuela’s economy collapsed under hyperinflation, driven by several pressures including the 2014 oil-price crash. 

Their economy contracted by roughly 80% over two years, one of the worst peacetime collapses in modern history.

“Trust was broken,” explains Cashea’s Co-founder and CEO Pedro Vallenilla. 

As a serial entrepreneur, he believed he could change his country’s reality.

In 2022, four founders set out to bring consumer credit back from the dead with almost no chance of success.

They started with $2.1M. 

For the first two weeks: 
zero downloads.

Then they brought credit back to Venezuela, when no one thought it possible.

Ignoring the naysayers, the company gave the Venezuelan people a vote of confidence: credit in a country where credit didn’t exist at zero percent interest.

Today, they process more than one loan every second. 

Over 10M people, a third of the entire Venezuela population, already uses the app.

Cashea encourages responsible spending, increasing spending limits and number of installments as users repay their debts, allowing them to “level up.” 

Through this system, over 97% of users pay on time.

It’s now one of the biggest BNPL players in Latin America.

It’s called Cashea. 

And they just raised $100 million from global investors and Latin American backers.

Built in Caracas, Venezuela.

Not in Silicon Valley.
