There's one company most people have never heard of that sits at the heart of almost every piece of advanced technology we use today. 🧠⚙️

That company is ASML.

Based in the Netherlands, ASML doesn't make smartphones, GPUs, or computer chips.

It makes something even more critical:

The machines used to manufacture the world's most advanced semiconductor chips.

And these machines are absolutely extraordinary.

ASML's most important technology is EUV (Extreme Ultraviolet) lithography—a process that uses extremely short-wavelength light to help chipmakers print incredibly tiny patterns onto silicon wafers.

Why does that matter?

Because modern processors contain billions of transistors, packed into an area smaller than your fingernail.

The smaller and more precise those patterns become, the more powerful and efficient chips can potentially be.

ASML's EUV systems are among the most complex machines ever engineered.

A single system contains hundreds of thousands of components and combines advanced optics, lasers, vacuum systems, precision mechanics, software, and materials science.

Even the EUV light itself is incredibly difficult to produce.

The machine creates microscopic droplets of molten tin and hits them with powerful laser pulses to generate the extreme ultraviolet light required for the lithography process.

And then comes another incredible challenge:

That light has to travel through an ultra-high-precision optical system because EUV light is absorbed by ordinary air and glass.

The result is a machine capable of helping chip manufacturers create the tiny features required for the most advanced processors.

Companies such as TSMC, Samsung, and Intel use ASML's lithography technology in their semiconductor manufacturing operations.
