The reason the last crop of top prospects failed is that, not only could Anthony Volpe and Jasson Dominguez not hit, but they couldn’t field their position all that great either. (The metrics have always supported Volpe as a solid shortstop, but it’s clear that Lombard is the superior glove.) Wells’ offense has been inconsistent, but he’s at least a good backstop. He should get credit for this staff’s success given all the injuries.

It’ll be funny if Wells ends up moving on with this next gen of prospects. That’s not the guy I would have pegged as the survivor, especially after this last deadline.
