Last week, 87 military officers from 79 nations visited the Kansas Judicial Center, where they met with Court of Appeals judges, research attorneys, and other judicial center staff.

Judges Lori Bolton Fleming, Amy Fellows Cline, Rachel Pickering led a discussion on the judicial system. They walked the group through a mock trial that asked officers to fill roles as prosecution and defense attorneys arguing before a three-judge court. The remaining officers served as jurors.

The officers are students of the Command and General Staff College at Fort Leavenworth. The trip to the Kansas Judicial Center, which included a visit to Capitol, is part of their Field Studies Program. Many officers who attend the course go on to higher ranking military positions or to serve as ambassadors, prime ministers, presidents and kings in their home countries.
