On Thursday, August 6th, Albertus Magnus College Director of Athletics Michael Kobylanski announced the hiring of Tim Richter as new head coach for the men’s ice hockey program.

Richter, a native of Naugatuck, CT, was a four-year player at UMass Boston graduating in 2013 with a degree in Sociology. He accumulated 18 goals & 19 assists for 37 points in 51 career games.

Professionally, Richter played four seasons for the Danbury Whalers/Titans of the Federal Hockey League (now the FPHL) from 2013-2017. He was named the 2014 Rookie of the Year after putting up 70 points in 56 games. Richter also spent time with the Knoxville Ice Bears (SPHL) and Evansville Icemen (ECHL) before retiring from his playing career. 

Richter began his coaching career immediately, becoming an assistant coach with the Post Eagles men’s ice hockey program for the 2017-2018 season. He’d stay in that role for five seasons until taking over as head coach for the 2022-2023 season. The Eagles would make two Northeast 10 Tournament appearances under his helm while also seeing nine All-NE10 performers, including two NE10 Rookie of the Year winners.

Richter officially begins his duties on Tuesday, August 11th.
