NBA fans are comparing the new Philadelphia 76ers to the Hamptons Five Golden State Warriors, however, there’s a big difference which is age. When the GS Warriors built their dynasty, Stephen Curry was 28 years old, Kevin Durant was 27, Klay Thompson was 26, and Draymond Green was 26. They were all in the middle of their athletic primes. Add Andre Iguodala, Shaun Livingston, Zaza Pachulia, David West, JaVale McGee and one of the greatest NBA coaching staffs led by Steve Kerr, and it was one of the most dominant teams basketball fans have ever seen.

The Philadelphia 76ers have LeBron James joining Joel Embiid, Jaylen Brown, Tyrese Maxey and VJ Edgecombe to give Philadelphia one of the most talented starting lineups in the NBA. Add role players like Kelly Oubre Jr., Adem Bona and the rest of the Sixers’ depth, and it’s easy to see why many NBA fans think they’re championship favorites. But this isn’t 2017 Golden State because m LeBron is 41 years old, Joel Embiid is in his 30s and injury prone, Jaylen Brown is in his prime, Maxey is entering his prime, and Edgecombe is going into his sophomore year.

The talent is there, but I’m not sure if the timeline is. The Warriors were built to dominate for years because their NBA superstars peaked together. The Sixers are surrounding one of the greatest players in NBA history with elite talent to make one more championship run before Father Time strikes. If anyone can make it work, it’s LeBron James. If Joel Embiid stays healthy, Tyrese Maxey develops into a star, Jaylen Brown does his thing, and VJ Edgecombe contributes, this basketball team can compete for an NBA Championship.
