One phone call turned a researcher into a climbing coach.

🧗‍♀️ Oriane Bertone | Sport Climbing | Olympian • World Cup medalist

Oriane’s dad, Stefano, had never climbed a rock.

Then one afternoon, a climbing instructor called after watching his 7 year old twin daughters at a holiday camp and said:

“You need to find these girls a real climbing club. Tomorrow.”

Stefano Bertone wasn’t a coach. He was a university researcher. Instead of searching for the perfect training system, he built one.

He taught himself climbing, adapted his own research into a learning method, and became Oriane’s first coach.

Years later, when Oriane became the youngest woman in history to climb V14, she wasn’t just relying on talent, she was climbing with a  system her father had spent years learning how to build.
