Draper’s novel, about Melody Brooks, a nonverbal sixth-grader with cerebral palsy who uses assistive technology to communicate and excel in school, challenging prejudice and advocating for inclusion. Directed by Amber Sealey, it stars Phoebe-Rae Taylor as Melody, with Jennifer Aniston, Luke Kirby, and Rosemarie DeWitt in supporting roles. The film premiered at Sundance in January 2024 and was released on Disney+ on November 22, 2024.
