#JayZ & Kanye West’s “WATCH THE THRONE” dropped 15 years ago TODAY 👑

Today marks 15 years since this landmark collaborative album hit on August 8, 2011 and it remains one of the most ambitious and iconic joint projects in Hip Hop history.

The album was primarily produced by Kanye West, with major contributions from Hit-Boy, Mike Dean, The Neptunes, RZA, Swizz Beatz, Q-Tip, No I.D., and others. They crafted a luxurious, cinematic, and larger-than-life sound: opulent samples, hard-hitting drums, soulful flips, spacey synths, and high-fashion production that matched the duo’s royal status.

From the anthemic “N*ggas in Paris” and the Otis Redding-sampling “Otis,” to the reflective “No Church in the Wild,” the triumphant “Lift Off” (feat. Beyoncé), “New Day,” “Gotta Have It,” and “Murder to Excellence,” every track felt grand, ambitious, and culturally charged. Features from Frank Ocean, Mr. Hudson, and others elevated it even further.

“Watch the Throne” debuted at #1, went multi-platinum, and set a new standard for collaborative albums. “Watch the Throne” blended luxury rap, social commentary, and pure star power. It still sounds like a statement of two kings at the peak of their powers.

Do you feel as though “Watch the Throne” is one of the greatest collaborative albums in Hip Hop history? And how does it rank among Jay-Z and Kanye’s catalogs for you?
