A CHS Companions service group made a memorable trip this summer to Montana, where it served communities in need.

Here’s a look at a second set of photos from an amazing experience.

In the CHS Companions Program, juniors respond to the Ignatian call to service via immersion trips.

The group served in various capacities in and around a small town named for the founder of the Jesuits, St. Ignatius, The town is situated on the Flathead Indian Reservation; a main purpose of the trip is to engage the culture of the Native Americans there. The town is also home to the historic St. Ignatius Mission.

The CHS group consisted of Sam Devlin, John Dunn, Nick Elia, Tommy Long, Isaac Lowinger, Elliot Manley, Max Miranda, Gabriele Pili, Spencer and Sean Whelahan.

The group celebrated Mass together, prepared and shared their meals together and engaged in daily reflections about their encounters each day.

The adult leaders of the trip were Director of Campus Ministry Fr. Charles Frederico, S.J., and school counselor Annette Sugg.

In the Companions program, each student is invited to grow in self-knowledge through an experience of service to and solidarity with the marginalized.

A CHS Companions group also served in Maine this summer. Canisius students have also participated in immersion trips to Mexico, Puerto Rico, New Orleans, West Virginia and Virginia during recent school years. There are additional trips in the winter and spring.

Students and families interested in the unique experiences offered through the CHS Campus Ministry program and the excellence only found in a Jesuit education at Canisius – ranked as the Buffalo area’s “Best Catholic School” by Buffalo Business First – can learn more by arranging an on-campus experience via canisiushigh.org/visit

This place is special. Let us show you why.
