Meet adoptable Colleen Allen, a 9 year old, 25 lb Shih Tzu mix whose personality can only be described one way: amazing. She is sweet, gentle, and wonderfully easy to bring along, the kind of dog who seems to make friends wherever she goes.

Colleen loves other dogs and is always happy to meet a new buddy. She likes to follow them around, sniff hello, and join in politely. She is especially good at reading the room, giving other dogs space if they are not in the mood, then circling back when the time is right. On walks, she has been calm and pleasant with every dog she has met.

With people, Colleen is just as lovely. She will happily walk up to say hello, give a little sniff, and accept pets like the polite queen she is. Kids do not faze her either. She has handled playgrounds and sidewalk attention with total calm, just taking it all in stride. She’s honestly perfect and we love her so much.

Given her senior age, she does have a couple of medical challenges that she’s been working through. With the help of her dedicated veterinarian, we are so happy to report that she’s doing great! When Colleen first arrived, she experienced a vestibular episode (a seizure). Since she had just been rescued, we weren’t sure if this was a recurring or one-time episode. Well, we are happy to report that it seems to have been a one-time situation thus far; it’s been a couple of months and she’s recovered well with no recurrence, with the only remaining symptom showing as a (potentially) permanent head tilt. We think it makes her cuter and it doesn’t affect her quality of life, so we’re all for it!

As many older pups are, Colleen also may be a bit hard of hearing, but yes, she can hear, and is always happy to hear that sound of your voice! She does have some of that old lady energy when it comes to her medical needs, but we’re making sure she’s well taken care of and hope that she can still find her forever family in her golden years.
