Boden Kapke has yet to play a game for Nebraska, but the transfer forward has already established himself as one of the Huskers' loudest leaders.

The 7-foot transfer from Boston College arrived in Lincoln after averaging 10.6 points and 5.7 rebounds last season. While Nebraska expects Kapke's size and shooting ability to strengthen the frontcourt, head coach Fred Hoiberg said it is the senior's leadership that has stood out most during offseason workouts.

"Boden sets the tone every day with his voice," Hoiberg said.

Nebraska is replacing several veteran leaders from last season's Sweet 16 team, including Rienk Mast, Sam Hoiberg and Jamarques Lawrence. Hoiberg said communication has been a major point of emphasis throughout the summer, and Kapke has quickly helped fill that leadership void.

For Kapke, that approach comes naturally.

"My dad always told me, 'Be the loudest person in the gym,'" Kapke said.

His teammates have noticed.

"He's the loudest guy in the gym at all times," forward Braden Frager said.

Kapke said he tries to keep teammates engaged by constantly communicating through possessions and bringing energy every day, whether in practice or workouts.

Nebraska also believes his versatility will make an immediate impact on the court. At 7 feet tall, Kapke has the ability to stretch the floor offensively while playing both power forward and center, giving the Huskers added flexibility in the frontcourt.

As Nebraska continues building chemistry with a revamped roster, the Huskers believe one of their newest additions is already helping establish the team's identity—one voice at a time.
