In 2022, #17 Pitt started the season by defeating rival West Virginia on a 57-yard pick six late in the 4th quarter.

The pass went right through the hands of the intended Mountaineer receiver and instead was caught by defensive back M.J. Devonshire, who ran it all the way back for a touchdown and sparked an incredible reaction from the crowd of over 70,000.

The Panthers ended up going 9-4 that season and finished ranked in the Top 25 for a second consecutive year.
