Getting out into nature and discovering the creatures that keep our ecosystems thriving! 

Hi, I’m Alex (or Al!) Martin and I am an Intern with Trinity Communications. Collie Ennis and Jane Stout from Trinity Sustainability invited people on a bug hunt in June for Insect Week 2026, just one part of Trinity’s biodiversity and climate actions. 

Collie, Biodiversity Officer for Trinity, tells us why insects are important for the environment. We heard everything about the different bugs in the cracks and crannies of Trinity College Dublin. A fun fact I loved about them was, for example, spiderlings (baby spiders) eat their mother spider if she’s dying!! 

Turns out, it IS a bugs life after all!!
