Will Roberts was first diagnosed with osteosarcoma in January 2025. The teen passed away on Thursday, July 23, while being treated at Rady Children’s Hospital in San Diego. His body was returned home on Wednesday, July 29.

“Will is finally ringing his forever cancer free bell as he entered the gates of Heaven,” Brittney Roberts, Will’s mother, wrote in the Facebook post announcing his passing.

Roberts inspired national support in April after a Facebook plea he shared, asking for help getting access to a specific cancer drug, drew a response from lawmakers and Dr. Mehmet Oz, the administrator of The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services.

On Wednesday, July 29, Gov. Kay Ivey issued a proclamation designating Aug. 1, 2026, as Will Roberts Day in Alabama.
