Ben Simmons is actively mounting an NBA comeback after sitting out the entire 2025–26 season to rehab his body, and a potential union with the New York Knicks has suddenly become more relevant than ever. Last offseason, Simmons turned down a one-year veteran minimum contract offer from New York, but with reports from ESPN’s Marc J. Spears revealing that the 30-year-old is now fully open to accepting a league-minimum deal and already holds a non-guaranteed offer, the Knicks front office could circle back. Desperate for frontcourt depth and a reliable option to fill their third-center role, New York presents a mutually beneficial environment for Simmons to re-establish his career.

From a tactical standpoint, joining the Knicks requires virtually zero scoring pressure, making it an ideal setting for Simmons’ skill set. Furthermore, playing in New York allows Simmons to subtly operate in the shadows of an established superteam. With major headlines and defensive focus anchored entirely on Jalen Brunson, Karl-Anthony Towns, OG Anunoby, and Mikal Bridges, Simmons can hide in plain sight without bearing the brunt of media scrutiny. By accepting a reduced role in secondary or garbage-time minutes, he can slowly rebuild his league-wide value, maintain his health, and secure another contract in the NBA.
