A lot frequently used for free parking in downtown Spartanburg could soon become the city's next major development project.

The privately owned, one-acre lot at the corner of North Church Street and East St. John Street has been listed for sale for $3.4 million.

The property offers more than 60 parking spots for free through an agreement with the city, but the arrangement would end should the site be redeveloped.
