On Valentine’s Day 2019, South Hill, Virginia police Corporal C.B. Fleming was responding to a gas leak call when a mom told him her kids were scared of cops. He got permission from the parents, lay down on the ground, and spent time coloring with the boys and playing dolls with the girls. The community now calls him the “South Hill Batman.”

Fleming, a dad of 3 girls and a 15-year department veteran, later said playing with dolls was “second nature” to him.
