A new federal rule could restrict access to best-practice health care for some transgender young people in the U.S. But, nothing is changing overnight and there is still time to stop this dangerous rule from taking effect.

As Trevor’s Senior Vice President of Public Engagement Campaigns, Rodrigo Heng-Lehtinen (he/him), said in our statement:

“This type of care is nothing new; it has been provided for decades, based on scientific research and supported by all of our country’s leading medical and mental health associations. Right now, we need our government officials to increase access to essential health care for marginalized youth, not restrict it further.”

Transgender health care is health care. For many trans and nonbinary young people, that care can be an important part of their overall well-being and ability to feel at home in their bodies.
