This week we caught up Celine Mayer, the winner of our 2026 Sports Pitch Competition! 

Celine is a rising senior Astrophysics and Computer Science major on the Women’s Ice Hockey team and founder of Practice Pro. 

We asked her what impact On Deck and the Pitch Competition had on the development of PracticePro. “The On Deck Pitch Competition was the first time I was pushed to think about PracticePro as a real business and not just a coding project. That shift was genuinely outside my comfort zone, since up until that point I had been almost entirely focused on the technical side. It forced me to think about who this is for, why it matters, and how it could grow. That experience has been a huge motivator to keep pushing the project forward.”

We also asked what updates have been made since the competition and where it’s going next. “Since the competition, I’ve brought on a collaborator, Niklas Obermüller, a fellow Williams Student, and we’ve been building on the platform together. We’ve made several improvements including faster load times, visual upgrades, and bug fixes […] Niklas and I are currently working on version 2 of the website, with the goal of having it ready by the fall semester. We’re hoping the hockey team will continue using it and that we can expand to additional teams as well.”
