Every child deserves to feel safe, supported, and connected as they return to school. During Back-to-School Month, we're spotlighting Caring for Denver grantees that are creating environments where children and youth can thrive.

Grantee Spotlight: Seeing Our Adolescents Rise (SOAR)

SOAR (Seeing Our Adolescents Rise) empowers young people to overcome adversity through trauma-informed support, meaningful relationships, and opportunities to build brighter futures. By combining mental health care, mentorship, educational advocacy, experiential learning through adventure therapy, SOAR helps youth develop resilience, confidence, and the tools they need to thrive.

With support from Caring for Denver, the RISE to Learn, Thrive to Lead program provides a coordinated network of care for justice-involved and high-risk youth in Denver. The program combines individual and group therapy, one-on-one youth coaching, and family support, and educational pathways to help participants strengthen their mental health, reduce substance misuse, reconnect with school, and avoid further involvement with the justice system. Through trusted relationships and personalized support, youth gain the skills and stability needed to move forward with hope and purpose.

By replacing barriers with opportunity, SOAR is helping Denver youth heal, reconnect, and build lasting pathways toward success.
