This clip comes from the 2003 Rugby World Cup after France defeated Ireland in the quarter-finals to book their place in the semi-finals. As usual after the game, French star Frédéric Michalak was brought over for a live TV interview with an interpreter translating his answers into English. But instead of answering the question properly, Michalak looked at the interpreter and basically said: “If you want, you deal with it… just say whatever you want. I honestly don’t know what to say.” 😭 The poor interpreter instantly realised they were LIVE on television and had no idea what to do. Years later he admitted he was panicking inside, so he simply made up a classic post-match rugby answer about the team playing well, staying focused and sticking to the game plan, hoping nobody would realise. 😂 What makes it even better is that this wasn’t random. The two had spent weeks joking around during the tournament, changing questions and messing with each other during interviews. Michalak finally got his revenge by pulling the prank live on TV, creating one of the most iconic interview moments in rugby history.
