If someone is way too eager to show you what they can do, and they desperately need you to believe they can do it, nine times out of ten, they probably don't really have it.

They need the attention more than they need the thing itself.

Confidence is quiet and steady.

Ego is loud and unstable.

When someone is operating from ego, they constantly need to validate themselves through other people's attention, approval, respect, and admiration.

And this shows up everywhere in everyday life.

Pay attention to the people who constantly make spectacles of themselves.

The people who always need to prove how successful they are.

The people who constantly need you to believe their stories.

The people who need to be loved, admired, respected, or worshipped.

The people who talk endlessly about what they're capable of, but rarely have anything tangible to show for it.

That doesn't automatically mean they're lying.

But it should make you pay attention.

Because people who genuinely possess something usually don't need to convince everyone else that they possess it.

Their results speak for them.

Their behavior speaks for them.

Their consistency speaks for them.

You don't have to announce that you're confident.

You don't have to demand respect.

You don't have to convince everyone that you're powerful.

When you actually have it, you know you have it.

And you don't need the audience to validate it.
