An Islip Terrace man drowned in his backyard pool Sunday afternoon, Suffolk County police said.

A friend of Seamus McGuickian, 63, called 911 after discovering him unresponsive in the pool on Irish Lane, according to a news release.

He was pulled from the water, but he could not be revived, police said.
