Someone just connected three classic GTA worlds through working portals. 🎮🤯

A modder known as Dryxio has created an experimental setup linking GTA III, GTA: Vice City, and GTA: San Andreas, letting players travel between the three environments without the usual loading screens.

What makes the project especially impressive is how it works behind the scenes. All three games are running at the same time within a single process and share one Direct3D device. The portals render each separate game world as a live GPU texture, while NPCs, traffic, and other systems continue running independently.

Players can actually see into another GTA world through a portal, shoot through it, interact with NPCs on the other side, and then walk through the portal as control transfers to the other game instance.

The project was built with re3, reVC, librw, and plugin-sdk. For now, it remains a proof of concept rather than a finished public release.

It’s a wild example of how far classic game engines can be pushed beyond what they were originally designed to do.
Would you play GTA III, Vice City, and San Andreas as one connected world? 👀
