3 mistakes that could be keeping you from getting recruited 👇

As a D1 athlete, 5x All-American, and NCAA runner-up, these are 3 of the biggest mistakes I see high school athletes making during the recruiting process:

1. Waiting for coaches to reach out to you.

Unless you’re top 3 in the nation, you need to be proactive. Email coaches and introduce yourself with your GPA, PRs, intended major, why you’re interested in their school, and a highlight video.

Want the email template I used when I was getting recruited? Comment “TEMPLATE” and I’ll send it to you!

2. Only emailing coaches once.

Coaches get hundreds to thousands of emails during recruiting season. Your one email can easily get lost. Keep them updated when you PR, have a big championship performance, or update your highlight video.

3. Thinking your PRs are all that matter.

PRs get you noticed, but once a coach knows you can compete at their level, they start looking at everything else. Do you have the grades? Are you coachable? Are you a good teammate?

A coach would rather have someone with slightly lower PRs who is coachable, dependable, and a great fit than a top athlete who is difficult to coach.

Getting recruited isn’t just about being the best athlete. Be someone a coach can see on their team for the next 4–5 years.
