How to get a 4.0 as a D1 student-athlete:

I graduated in just three years with a 4.0 as an undergraduate STEM major from the University of Cincinnati, while also becoming an NCAA runner-up and 5x All-American by doing these 3 things.

1. Plan your week early!!

My coach always sends weekly workout plans on Sunday, so I use that plus my class schedule to plan out my day-to-day for that week.
I look at when I have time to eat, do some extra studying, and complete some homework all before I get home for the night.
Doing this helps me think less! I can just look at my phone calendar or my physical planner and already know when I have to eat, go to a meeting, down time, etc.

2. Do assignments early (especially in season)!

When you’re traveling on a plane every weekend, it can get overwhelming to make sure you have your assignments completed before Sunday at 11:59pm. This is why I always made sure to try to get my assignments done on the Sunday before they were due, or just before we left to travel for a meet.
This is also super helpful if you’re in a different time zone or have extra questions regarding an assignment. More time is always better than less!

3. COMMUNICATE with anyone who is vital to your academic success!

Whether it’s coaches, professors, or academic advisors, you need to communicate with them earlier than later. No one knows that you are struggling, have a question, or you need an extension unless you communicate with them! THEY CANNOT READ YOUR MIND! Be your own advocate.
Also, professors are more willing to help if they know you have conflicts well in advance! I have built great relationships with many professors all because I communicated early.

This is just scratching the surface of things I did during my undergrad that helped me achieve a 4.0. If you want more tips, comment below⬇️
