Jacob Fatu says the Samoan Werewolf name came from Twilight.

Speaking with Stephanie McMahon on What's Your Story?, Fatu said, "It started from the movie Twilight." Early in his training, his uncle Rikishi ran an exercise built around teams representing different cities, and Fatu was placed on a team with one of his trainers, Gangrel, who played a vampire. "Twilight vampires need a werewolf, and the guy's name was Jacob."

Fatu credited Rikishi, Reno, his father and Gangrel with his training. He said his uncle and his mother both pointed out that there are no werewolves in Samoa, and his answer was that he has not been there since he was one year old, so who knows.

The name followed him through his independent run and his MLW World Heavyweight Championship reign of more than two years, and came with him when he signed with WWE. He debuted in May 2024.
