LIVE REVIEW: If there is a better British metal band out there right now than Bleed From Within, they better step up to the plate sharpish. Because, based on the power, precision, and passion they are exhibiting here at Bloodstock, Glasgow’s own are running away with that accolade with glee.
This spot on the Ronnie James Dio Stage serves as one of their highest billings in their 23-year career, a new medal pinned to their packed-out chests, and in every sense they are rising to the occasion. From the lone piper and the haunting vocals of Hannah Boulton setting the atmosphere before a soaring ‘Zenith’ gets the party started, to the blistering flames that emanate from every corner of the stage, this is a show at its most lovingly crafted and awe-inspiring.
And when matched with the spine-tingling melody and sheer brute force that the band deliver, it is impossible to take your eyes off.
From a belligerent ‘Stand Down’ to an emotional ‘A Hope In Hell’, a spine-shattering ‘God Complex’ to a surging ‘The End Of All We Know’, they don’t put a foot wrong in causing absolute carnage, the pit before them getting bigger and bigger with every stellar breakdown.
“I think this is my favourite show we have played,” vocalist Scott Kennedy bellows through his mile-wide smile, before launching over the barricade to be with his people during sensational closer ‘In Place Of Your Halo’, and the feeling throughout this field is resoundingly mutual.
If Bleed From Within continue at this pace, their place in heavy music folklore is all but sealed. But to see them cementing that position in such an extravagant, luxurious and effortlessly fun way; that is the real prize.
