The FC1 Si is the most slept-on turbo Honda platform right now — here's how to build one without wasting money on parts that don't talk to each other.

1. Start with the tune, not the bolt-ons. The L15B7 responds to a proper Hondata FlashPro calibration like nothing else in this price range. You're unlocking power the factory left on the table, and everything you bolt on after this actually has a brain behind it. Skipping this step is like buying wheels before you fix your suspension geometry — looks cool, drives stupid.

2. Intercooler before you add boost targets. The stock unit heat soaks on a spirited back road, let alone a track day. A good front mount intercooler keeps intake temps consistent so your tune isn't pulling timing every third pull. This is the mod you won't feel immediately but will absolutely feel the absence of when it's 95° out.

3. Get the wheel and tire fitment dialed. This is where the FC1 goes from "nice Civic" to something people actually walk up to in parking lots. The right concave face with proper offset fills those fenders without looking like you're trying too hard. Square setups work beautifully on this chassis — don't overcomplicate it.

4. Suspension before stance. Coilovers with proper spring rates matched to your driving style, not just whatever gets you the lowest. The FC1's rear multi-link setup actually rewards good damping. This is the "one-hour install" that somehow turns into an entire Saturday, two skinned knuckles, and a reevaluation of your relationship with spring perches.

5. Build it as a system, not a parts list. Tune talks to intercooler talks to intake temps talks to suspension geometry talks to wheel fitment. Every mod should make the last one work better. That's what separates a build from a shopping spree.

Save this — future you at the parts counter will thank you.
