On a solo road trip—state to state, into Canada, and back through Michigan—a friend in Detroit suggested I take a detour to Mackinac Island.

So I did.

I caught the ferry, rented a bike, and spent the afternoon riding the coastline with no real agenda—just horses, bicycles, fresh air, and the freedom to explore.

Some of the most memorable experiences are the ones you never planned.
