Bloomberg Philanthropies and the City Fund have committed $20 million to help expand public charter schools created through partnerships with Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs). The investment will support two schools in Alabama, giving students access to dual-enrollment courses, college mentors, and university faculty while still in K-12 education. The initiative is being developed in partnership with the United Negro College Fund (UNCF), Stillman College, and Tuskegee University to strengthen pathways from the classroom to college. This builds on Bloomberg Philanthropies’ long-term investment in higher education, including a $600 million commitment to four HBCU medical schools and a $10 million donation to UNCF.
