“Chicago” by Carl Sandberg was the work that gave our city the nickname, “City of Big Shoulders”. Still one of the realest poems ever written. A timeless love letter to the heart, grit, ambition and soul of Chicago.

Sandburg captured a city that was rough around the edges, hardworking, proud and unapologetically itself. And somehow, more than a century later, his words still feel like Chicago.

A city built by dreamers, workers, immigrants, artists, musicians, athletes and generations of people who helped make this place what it is.
