The retailer has named Chandhu Nair its first Chief AI Officer, with plans to push AI deeper into trend detection, sales forecasting, customer experience and agentic commerce. Target is also already working with ChatGPT and Gemini to enable new ways for consumers to discover and purchase products. (The Wall Street Journal⁠)

The bigger signal is the C suite.

When major corporations begin creating executive positions specifically around artificial intelligence, the transition has moved beyond experimentation.
