🦴 Can stem cells actually regrow cartilage?

You’ve probably seen clinics claiming stem cell injections (which are most commonly with mesenchymal stem cells) can “regenerate” worn-out cartilage and reverse osteoarthritis. But what does the evidence actually show? 🤔

🔬 Some studies have reported changes on MRI after stem cell treatments, but MRI changes don’t necessarily mean healthy, functional cartilage has regrown.

📚 Higher-quality evidence suggests that while some patients may experience improvements in pain and function, there is currently no convincing evidence that stem cell injections reliably regenerate cartilage or reverse osteoarthritis.

Stem cells may have potential, but we need to separate promising research from claims that are ahead of the science.
