Another big milestone at Ground + Sky House!! With the foundation walls complete, we’ve moved into the critical work that will keep the house dry, durable, and performing efficiently for decades to come.

In this video we walk through the installation of the foundation waterproofing, perimeter drain system, crawl space preparation, and backfilling around the foundation walls. These are some of the most important parts of the project, even if they don’t typically get the glory they deserve. Getting them right now is essential to the overall design and function and of the house.

It’s exciting to see the site begin to settle back into its final form as the excavation is filled, and the foundation starts to feel like a permanent part of the landscape. Now, we can start the framing - where the house begins to truly take shape above the ground.
