The Hamilton County Coroner's Office has released the cause of death for William Evans-Ellis, the 7-year-old Oakley boy found dead and severely abused last week.

The boy's death was caused by blunt force trauma to the head, Hamilton County Coroner Dr. Lakshmi Sammarco told reporters on Aug. 11. She said William also had an arm fracture and "bruises too numerous to count," adding that she believes that the boy was dead for about a day before being found by police.

"This is a hard case for everybody," Sammarco said. "We always say that we expect the worst, but sometimes we get it."
