Britain and Europe witnessed the most spectacular solar eclipse in nearly 30 years, attracting millions of people and astronomy enthusiasts to witness it. Parts of Spain, Iceland, and Greenland were fortunate enough to be in the path of totality, witnessing the magnificent spectacle of the moon completely obscuring the sun, revealing a brilliant corona and pink prominences in complete darkness. Britain, however, because the moons were not perfectly aligned, observed a 90% to 95% partial solar eclipse, making it the country’s most breathtaking eclipse experience since 1999. This unforgettable spectacle was due to the cosmic miracle of the moon and sun having the same apparent diameter in the Earth’s sky. With the world entering the “golden age of total solar eclipses” from 2026 to 2028, three total solar eclipses will occur in the coming years, while Britain will have to wait until 2090 to witness the next total solar eclipse.
