Coach Meech from I Love Basketball TV breaks down the four most common shooting mistakes we see at every level. The ball starting too low forces you to pull it all the way up to your set point instead of driving through it, and that kills your timing the moment you add any movement.

The elbow mistake is one most players never catch. Flare it out and the ball shifts into your guide hand. Force it in too tight and your wrist has to compensate at the top. Neither works. The fix is simpler than you think and it starts with how you lift your hand off your side.

The thumb flick is not the real problem. It is just your body trying to fix something that went wrong earlier in the shot. Fix the elbow and the thumb flick cleans itself up. And if the ball is drifting behind your head or behind your face, you are redirecting the ball every single shot instead of letting it ride that perfect arc straight to the rim.
