Every number has a story. For Jessie Blaine, it's a special cause.

The sophomore catcher on the auburnsoftball team wears #22 on her jersey for a reason. It's to help bring awareness to 22Kill, a non-profit organization that focuses on preventing suicide among military veterans and first responders.

A 2012 report from the US Department of Veteran Affairs indicated that an average of 22 military veterans take their own lives each day. Subsequent reports have since the average is closer to 19. The organization changed to onetribefoundation with the discrepancy.

Jessie's father Brian currently serves in the US Marine Corps. She also wore #22 during her high school career where she played basketball and softball.
