Arizona State was ROBBED of a College Football Playoff win 💔

The Sun Devils entered the College Football Playoff as one of the biggest underdogs in the field, and few gave them much of a chance against Texas in the Peach Bowl.

But Kenny Dillingham’s team refused to back down.

After trailing by 16 in the fourth quarter, Arizona State stormed back behind miraculous efforts from Sam Leavitt and Cam Skattebo, tying the game at 24 following a late touchdown drive and ensuing two-point conversion.

Then the referees stepped in.

With just over a minute remaining, Leavitt found Melquan Stovall for a 10-yard completion on third-and-long. While the pass was well short of the marker, the Sun Devils were adamant that Longhorn safety Michael Taaffe was guilty of targeting.

But after a lengthy review, the referees ultimately upheld the no call. And rather than a free first down, Arizona State was forced to punt and eventually settle for overtime.

The Sun Devils had the Longhorns on the ropes again after opening the extra period with a touchdown, but failed to stop Texas on their next two drives. Unfortunately, Arizona State’s luck ran out in the second overtime period after Sam Leavitt threw a game-ending interception.

Arizona State’s season ended in heartbreak, but not before pushing Texas to the brink in one of the most unforgettable games of the College Football Playoff era.
