If you told someone 10 years ago this would be Justin Trudeau’s life in 2026, they probably wouldn’t believe you. 

The former prime minister was spotted inside a Montreal hardware store with Katy Perry when his son Xav’s song “Downtown” began playing over the speakers.

The two shared a spontaneous dance in the aisle, creating a moment that would have sounded almost impossible a decade ago: Trudeau out of politics, alongside one of the world’s biggest pop stars, while his son’s own music plays in a local Montreal store.

A pretty unexpected full-circle moment for the Trudeau family and one of the more surreal Canadian celebrity crossovers of 2026.
