Two gun-related Facebook Marketplace robberies in the SAME AREA, hit Ottawa in less than a day 😨💔🔫

A second armed Facebook Marketplace robbery is now under investigation in Ottawa, with the two incidents happening just 15 hours and roughly 7 km apart.

Ottawa Police say the first happened Sunday evening near Berrigan and Beatrice drives in Barrhaven. A suspect allegedly pulled out a handgun and stole an item after arranging a Marketplace transaction with the victim.

About 15 hours later, another Marketplace deal in Manotick turned violent when a suspect allegedly pointed a firearm at a seller and attempted to rob them. Two shots were fired, but thankfully nobody was struck. 

The suspect, identified by police as a young offender, was taken into custody by the seller, a security guard and an off-duty police officer.

Police say both robberies remain under investigation and have not confirmed whether the two incidents are connected.

Two armed Marketplace robberies in less than a day… Ottawa sellers may want to think twice about where they meet buyers.
