Several activities were organized August 11-15, during Sail Canada’s Youth Fest and Championship (Club 420) and CORK International, to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Montreal 1976 Games this summer, including the sailing competition in Kingston:

-a torch parade in Kingston, including eight sports personalities representing not only the sailing competition at the 1976 Games, but also its legacy, led by Queen’s Band. Read more >
-movie night outside of Portsmouth with an Olympic thematic: the story of Jamaica’s underdog bobsled team at the Calgary 1988 Games. Read more: https://www.thewhig.com/sports/at-re-enactment-of-olympic-flames-lighting-kingstons-sailing-future-crosses-paths-with-alumni-of-1976-games;

-Heritage Tour about the Montreal 1976 Games in Kingston. This edition of “Heritage Hour” was dedicated to the sailing events of the 1976 Montreal Games in Kingston and was held at City Hall;

-the Olympians’ Regatta: a total of 12 participants took part in this event, including Evert Bastet, Oskar Johansson, John Curtis, Bernard Luttmer, Gordon Cook, James Richardson, Peter Higgins, Anders Gustafsson, Shona Moss Lovshin, Paul Davis and Marianne Davis;

-Sail Canada 2026 Celebration of Sailing-Kingston 1976 Games Legacy: more than 90 persons gathered at the Kingston Yacht Club to reconnect with the Canadian Sailing Community and celebrate together the 50th anniversary;

-Community Exhibition at Portsmouth: a Community Exhibition was held in the Portsmouth Olympic Harbour “Sailroom”, including artifacts, videos and photos.

Plusieurs activités ont été organisées du 11 au 15 août, dans le cadre du Festival et Championnat (Club 420) de la jeunesse de Voile Canada et de CORK International, afin de souligner le 50e anniversaire des Jeux de Montréal 1976 cet été, y compris la compétition de voile à Kingston.
