Kyrie Irving, James Harden and Kevin Durant in Brooklyn will always be one of the biggest “what ifs” in NBA history. On paper, that trio was ridiculous: Kyrie had the handles and finishing, Harden was an elite scorer and playmaker, and KD was basically an automatic bucket from anywhere on the court. When they actually shared the floor, it felt like there was no answer for them. The crazy part is that we never really got to see that trio at full strength for a complete playoff run. Injuries, availability issues and Harden eventually leaving Brooklyn kept them from building the chemistry everyone expected. They still came within inches of getting past Milwaukee in 2021, but that series showed exactly how dangerous they could have been. Imagine if Kyrie, Harden and KD stayed healthy, stayed together and got multiple seasons to figure everything out — Brooklyn could’ve potentially built a dynasty. Instead, one of the most talented Big Threes ever became one of the biggest “what could have been” stories in basketball.
