This past weekend in Salt Lake City we had the privilege to honor two local firefighters. On Friday we were joined by Sam Garfield, who has devoted 25 years to protecting and serving the community through Salt Lake County Fire and the Unified Fire Authority. His career has included service as a firefighter, Engineer, Heavy Rescue Technician, and member of Utah Task Force 1 Urban Search and Rescue. Promoted to a Captain in 2010, Sam has demonstrated exceptional leadership and dedication throughout his career. On Saturday we were joined by the family of Corban Summers. Corban was born on June 13, 1975, in Salt Lake City, Utah, the oldest of six children. In his early twenties, he was drawn to the fire service not only to serve his community, but to become someone his children would be proud of. He began his career with the West Jordan City Fire Department before transferring to the South Jordan City Fire Department, where he faithfully served for 24 years as an Engineer and Senior Firefighter. He also served part-time with the Saratoga Springs and Bluffdale City Fire Departments. Those around him were truly fortunate to have known his generous and unique spirit. He is deeply missed. These impactful moments are never lost on us, and we thank these courageous firefighters for their service to the community ❤️
