“Self-made” doesn’t exist.

Absolutely no one is self-made. Nothing you ever do can be fully attributed to yourself. No one can live life alone, without help, without others. 

“Two are better than one because they have a good reward for their efforts. For if either falls, his companion can lift him up; but pity the one who falls without another to lift him up. Also, if two lie down together, they can keep warm; but how can one person alone keep warm? And if someone overpowers one person, two can resist him. A cord of three strands is not easily broken.” Ecclesiastes‬ ‭4:9-12‬ ‭

Family, friends, enemies, mentors, investors, strangers, TV shows, news reports, books, movies, songs, art, and so many more sources impacted and impact us, shape us, help us, make us who we are today. How could you truly say you did that alone? Think of how much those things helped, what song got you through a long summer? What friends did you hang out with on Spring Break? How much time, effort, blood, tears, money, and love have your parents or mentors poured into you? No one can say they did this alone. 

Life is not lived alone. And you cannot take full credit for your successes. 

“Then the Lord God said, “It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper corresponding to him.” Genesis‬ ‭2:18 

Christianity doesn’t call us to rely on ourselves, if so, we would all be doomed. Christianity calls for community and accountability and brotherhood and sisterhood and compassion.

Christianity is a social religion as we are a social species. 

We are all in this together.

Do not fear to lean on one another, for that’s why God has put them in your life.

“Even when I go through the darkest valley, I fear no danger, for you are with me; your rod and your staff — they comfort me.” Psalms‬ ‭23:4‬ ‭

And as always, lean on Him.
