Meet Christian Denice cdenice, one of two choreographers selected for the fifth annual Creative Movers Choreographic Initiative (CMCI), whose new work will premiere with the Joffrey Concert Group at In My Art in February 2027.

A Los Angeles–born dancer, choreographer, and educator, Christian brings an extensive career spanning classical ballet and contemporary dance. His work has been commissioned by companies across the United States and abroad, including Cincinnati Ballet, Nevada Ballet Theatre, BalletX, Chamber Dance Project, Ballet22, DanceWorks Chicago, and Houston Contemporary Dance Company. At the heart of his choreographic voice is an exploration of the human experience, balancing physicality with movement that invites reflection, emotion, and connection.

Through CMCI, Christian will receive dedicated creative time and resources to develop a new work with the Joffrey Concert Group, continuing the initiative’s mission to support choreographers as they develop and share their unique creative voices.

We look forward to welcoming Christian into the studio and seeing his vision come to life with our dancers. His new work will premiere alongside choreography by fellow CMCI recipient Duncan Lyle duncanlyle and Artistic Director and Resident Choreographer Bradley Shelver bradshelver in In My Art, February 19–20, 2027, at the Alvin Ailey Citigroup Theater in New York City.
