Stop hiding the slowest part of your sales opportunity.

If a commission-based sales role takes time to ramp, candidates should know what that could look like before they accept.

For example, say your conservative estimate is $5K/month by month five.

A simple ramp might look like:

Month 1: $1K
Month 2: $2K
Month 3: $3K
Month 4: $4K
Month 5: $5K

Those numbers are hypothetical—but the principle matters.

Don’t only show candidates the future: year-one potential, year-two potential, your vision, and leadership opportunities.

Show them the path to get there.

If a realistic early ramp isn’t good enough for a candidate, that’s valuable information. You may have identified a poor fit before spending months recruiting, onboarding, and managing them.

Reverse-engineer your expected ramp month by month, then communicate it clearly during recruiting.
